As far as the adapters go: BB code is on. It'll also take me a while to learn not to bottom out. Mine worked straight away on my XP and Vista machines. Most of the ones you see on eBay are very yellowed due to exposure to UV radiation; this one is still the original cream color, suggesting it's been in a server rack and never used for the past ten plus years. There are a few pros and cons to both styles. I've found Windows to be a pretty good operating system.

It's delicate so I don't want to mess with it. It's a decent trackball, but rather small, and the buttons could have been better placed.

At the moment it even works on an USB adapter. I think I'd prefer MX Blue switches. I might swap it with the brown switch under Pause some day. And I'll definitely post results either way.

All times are GMT It's nothing spectacular, and there are several annoying things about it 1180 gaffes, gray switch under space, the feet. Also, the Pause key probably fulfilled some useful function on the Compaq servers this board was designed for, but in modern computers it's pretty much worthless. Instead of being just a bit to the right of backspace like most other keyboards, it's up with the editing keys so I have to take my hands off the alphanum section to reach it.

And congratulations to meltie on a good deal. From my experience, most compwq computers even new ones!

We have them in our keyboard trays in each rack of a Data Center. The controller is under there, and you can see the ribbon cable. Interesting, I never heard of that one It's very reliable and fast compared with XP and newer. A separate trackball driver is good if you have a mouse too and want to adjust the trackball settings without affecting the mouse.

I want to get one of those that's built in to the tray. It's the same as a standard optical mouse iirc, have you tried uninstalling the driver? Good thing we still can for now.

Finally got a Compaq MX
